Copernicus Operations DM CM Engineer

CLC Space is currently recruiting Copernicus Operations DM CM Engineer to provide support at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Documentation and Configuration Management Engineer shall perform Documentation and Configuration Management tasks in support to the Copernicus Programme and Service
Management Office and to the Copernicus-related missions, at first Sentinel-3 and Jason-3 operations and progressively Sentinel-4, Sentinel-5 and Jason-CS/Sentinel-6 ramp-up operations activities.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You shall perform following main tasks:
• Implement the applicable Documentation and Configuration Management plans, processes and working practices. Regularly review and propose improvements on those documents;
• Deliver support to a wide range of users and training sessions on applicable
Documentation and Configuration Management procedures;
• Ensure that all incoming and outgoing Copernicus documentation is managed according to applicable working practices, covering all registration, formatting, review, approval and storing steps with the EUMETSAT Documentation
• Management tool, and timely releasing/distribution to relevant recipients;
• Support the identification of the configuration items (software, hardware and documents) to be managed during Copernicus operations (Sentinel-3 and Jason-3 at the moment) and build-up operations activities (for Sentinel-4, 5, 6). Register those documents and items in the CM and DM databases as appropriate, tracking any new version;
• As required support the administration of the Anomaly and Change Control Boards
• regularly organised to review and approve anomaly correction and changes to configuration baselines, covering all Copernicus associated operations and ramp-up operations activities;
• Liaise, coordinate and organise with external partners joint configuration boards when and where relevant;
• Support the control all changes impacting identified configuration items through all defined staged life-cycle steps, in particular ensure that any new item version is deployed only after the formal review and approval of the related change;
• Support the monitoring and control of hardware and software installation activities, and the deployment of satellite, system or ground segments operational documentation procedures into the relevant controlled areas, as required during operations and ramp-up operations activities;
• Keep up to date the mapping between changes (including anomalies) and software, hardware and document items, together with the mapping between software and hardware items;
• Contribute to the improvements of the EUMETSAT CM and DM tools, ensuring they efficiently support all required Copernicus operations and ramp-up operations phases, and participate to the testing of related new releases;
• Regularly perform consistency and accuracy checks on the Documentation and Configuration Management databases;
• Timely prepare and present Configuration Status Accounting Reports and documentation reports, as necessary;

The tasks shall be carried out in Darmstadt.

YOUR PROFILE
In addition to having a University degree or equivalent, you shall have a minimum of five years’ experience in the specific field of Documentation and Configuration Management, including build, deployment and installation activities on large software intensive high-availability operational systems.

The following skills and experiences are required:
• Documentation and Configuration Management standards (e.g. CMMI, ISO or ECSS);
• Documentation Management tools as basic administration or advanced user (e.g. Oracle UCM);
• Configuration Management tools as basic administration or advanced user (e.g.
• Serena Dimensions or Clearcase);
• Use of SQL queries;
• And more generally with system/software development processes and methodologies.

Practical experience with:
• scripting languages (e.g. vb.net);
• source code control tools (CVS, Subversion …);
• and software development environments on UNIX;
• will be considered as assets.

You shall also:
• have demonstrated excellent communication and team working skills;
• be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, in particular when applying the applicable Documentation and Configuration Management procedures and providing support to a wide range of users;
• be able to work calmly under stress with the minimum of supervision.
