Ground Stations System Engineer - 2 positions

CLC Space is currently recruiting two Ground Stations System Engineers to provide consultancy support at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To provide consultancy support on the Ground Stations System Engineering activities. You shall support the SEP Division of the TSS Department, and will be expected to have and maintain a System-wide view of the various Ground Stations.
The post is required to support the Ground Stations engineering related activities of future ground segments (mainly MTG and EPS-SG) .
The post will also provide engineering support of the existing MTP, MSG and EPS programmes.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You shall support the activities of ground segment developments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications.

In doing this, the consultant shall support:
• The follow up of the detailed design and development activities of Phase C/D of the future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications (mainly for supporting MTG and EPS SG activities)
• Engineering activities of Phase B of future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications (mainly for supporting Jason-CS activities)
• The maintenance and evolution in phase E to the other programmes within EUMETSAT (MSG, EPS, Jason, ,..) in the areas of Telecommunications, RF and Ground Stations,.

You will support a multi-disciplinary system engineering team. The SEP Ground Stations Engineering Team Leader will be the primary technical point of contact. However, when working in a given programme, you shall report also within the established programme structure.

In the performance of these tasks, you shall apply the relevant organisational and programmatic quality management procedures as well as the relevant ground stations system engineering standards.

YOUR PROFILE

You shall have a university degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks.
You shall have, as a pre-requisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least 5 years. This experience shall include in particular:
• Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for TT&C;
• Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for mission specific and/or satellite communications ground stations;
• TT&C baseband equipment and SLE compliant implementations;
• Technical background in the specification and V&V of ground stations and large antennas and tracking systems for GEO and LEO satellites (ACU and receivers inclusive);
• Knowledge of modulation/demodulation schemes applied by Ground to Space ICD for TT&C and payload data transmission (e.g. ECSS and CCSDS Standards).
• In addition, the knowledge and experience of the following processes/areas is considered as an asset:
• Competence and experience in the engineering processes for managing requirements from the definition phase through the traceability, verification, validation and maintenance stages using formal methods and tools (e.g. DOORs);
• Design and requirements engineering of large and complex Earth Observation related ground stations;
• Usage of High Data Rate Demodulators;
• System experience with Link budget analysis and tools in S, X and Ka Band.
• Standard RF and microwave tools and S/W package for generation of signal processing related simulations and/or semi-automated measurement procedures.

You shall be in possession of sound organisational and interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously and with a minimum level of supervision, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation.

The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the consultant must be able to work effectively in this language.

Please note that there are two different start dates for each of these positions.
