Jason-CS Overall Ground Segment Integration and Verification Engineer

CLC Space is currently recruiting a Jason-CS Overall Ground Segment Integration and Verification Engineer to provide consultancy support at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To provide consultancy for the Sentinel-6/Jason-CS Programme at EUMETSAT, in the field of integration and verification and in the development of the ground segment of the Sentinel- 6/Jason-CS satellite system.

You will provide consultancy to the Sentinel-6/Jason-CS Overall Ground Segment (OGS) Team in the Low Earth Orbit Division (LEO) at EUMETSAT and provide consultancy to the Sentinel-6/Jason-CS Ground Segment development activities.

You shall be based full-time at EUMETSAT's facilities in Darmstadt, Germany for the duration of the consultancy. Travel within Europe or to the USA is to be expected.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You shall provide consultancy for the Integration and Verification (I&V) activities of the Sentinel-6/Jason-CS OGS. During the OGS development, you will typically be involved in tasks related to the planning, preparation and execution of OGS I&V activities and following up / assessing I&V activities performed as part of the OGS procurements.

Typical tasks will include:
• Contribute to the production of all OGS I&V documents during Phases B2/C, and their implementation in Phase D;
• Update and maintain the OGS I&V related schedule in coordination with Project Control;
• Coordinate the I&V approach with the System team to ensure coherence and completeness of the approaches at OGS and System levels;
• Follow and assess the IV&V approach of all contributing elements of the OGS and ensure compatibility with the overall OGS I&V Plan;
• Establish and maintain the verification control mechanisms;
• Ensure that accurate metrics on I&V progress are maintained;
• Ensure the implementation of the OGS I&V plan through lower level test documentation, processes, test execution and relevant OGS reviews;
• Attend sub segment I&V tests as observer, witnessing tests where requirements are verified;
• Identify the acquisition of all necessary Test Tools and Test Data;
• Provide consultancy to validation activities managed by the Sentinel-6/Jason-CS System Team;
• Report on a weekly and monthly basis to OGS Management.

YOUR PROFILE

You shall be able to analyse complex situations, identify critical areas and produce accurate and concise analyses and recommendations.
You shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks autonomously, be able to plan your work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks and work in a rigorous way to agreed deadlines.
You shall be willing to provide consultancy to a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies.
You shall have the following experience, background and skills:
• University degree in engineering (e.g. space or software engineering), or equivalent;
• At least 5 years of general experience in the field of engineering of space and/or ground systems, preferably in the area of Earth observation from space;
• At least 3 years of involvement in the preparation and/or execution of I&V activities at Ground Segment level of such Systems;
• Experience with the preparation of test plans, test specifications and/or test procedures, prepared for I&V of such Systems;
• Experience of multi level verification processes and implementation;
• Familiarity with procurement and use of Test Tools and Test Data;
• Strong interpersonal and team working skills, flexibility, and strengths in analysis and pragmatic judgement are required;
• Good computer skills with strong experience with/ability to use MS Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, etc.) and with interacting with Unix-based systems. The following would be additional assets:
• Proficiency in using DOORS;
• Knowledge of systems development lifecycle;
• Knowledge of ECSS standards;

The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be fluent and able to work effectively in English, knowledge of French being an advantage.
