Junior Monitor & Control IVV Engineer

CLC Space is currently recruiting a Junior Monitor & Control IVV Engineer to join the existing IVV service for the MTG Ground Segment at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany for a contract period of 3 months.

JOB DESCRIPTION
You will join the IVV service set up for the integration and verification of the MTG ground segment. The engineer will be a member of the existing core IVV service on site.
The period of the assignment is to cover the first quarter of 2017. There is no commitment from our client that the position will be extended after the three-month period. An extension is dependent on the development of the overall MTG ground segment schedule.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks to be performed in the 3 month contract period.
REVIEW AND UPDATE OF TEST SPECIFICATIONS
Review and update the Test Specifications for MTG GS Integration for the activities planned in particular verify:
• The completeness of the test specification against the extent of testing foreseen in the GSIVP and GSVCD
• Consistency if the test specifications with respect to the relevant objectives, ie functions, interfaces, requirements to be verified, and with respect to the configuration to be used, including facilities, MMEs, test tools, test data, relevant environments
and infrastructure elements.
• The compatibility of the time planned for the execution of the tests with the availability of the configuration elements and estimated test duration
• The suitability of the test specification for the generation of test procedures and test data

GENERATION OF TEST PROCEDURES
The following test procedures are required to be produced in the 3 month contract period.
• M&C Chain V0
 MOF(0.2)::PFPE/PIU Ka-Band TM
 MOF(0.2)::MME-MON (online) dry run o M&C Chain verification
The test procedures shall be based on the test specifications and provide additional detailed information needed for the execution of each test case, and the assessment of the outcome. They shall contain step by step instructions, identify the requirements or design aspects to be verified, the outputs to be collected the analysis to be performed, the pass/fail criteria

IDENTIFICATION OF REQUIRED TEST TOOLS AND DATA
During the finalisation of test specifications, the planned utilization of test tools shall be verified. This shall identify any needs for additional tools to be able to execute the full set of tests foreseen. A similar exercise will be undertaken for test data.

ADAPTATION OR DEVELOPMENT OF REQUIRED TEST TOOLS AND DATA
Upon review and approval by EUMETSAT of the plan for the implementation of test tools and data, their development and preparation shall be performed.

EXECUTION OF IV&V TESTS
Based on the current schedule, the following tests are planned for execution in the 3 month contract.
• M&C Chain SVT0
 TTIU::MOF(0.1) (dry run and formal)
 Non Regr SATSIM (I1-v1)::MOF (0.1) (dry run and formal)

INPUTS
The work will be performed based on the following input:
• GSIVP
• Detailed schedule of IV&V activities referred to within GSIVP
• GSVCD
• Initial versions of test specifications
• Draft procedures generated by EUMETSAT
• Requests for updates of test procedures following review by EUMETSAT
• Approved plans for the implementation of test tools and data
• System and GS ICDs • System and GS Requirements Documents
• System, GS, facilities, MMEs and test tools design architecture documents
• User manual documentation for the facilities, MMEs and test tools to be used in the tests

OUTPUTS
The following outputs will be delivered:
• Findings and recommendations from the review of the initial versions of test specifications
• Proposed VCD updates
• Finalized test specifications
• Test procedures for each test case defined in the test specifications, following templates provided by EUMETSAT; updated issues provided following EUMETSAT review
• Test tools and test data implemented in line with the relevant management plan, and/or configured as specified in test specifications
• Test reports, relevant analysis of test results, as run test procedures
• Anomaly reports

DELIVERABLES
The following deliverables will be provided:
• Updated version of Test Specifications for MTG GS Integration
• Updated version of test procedures for GS Integration – M&C Chain DP Chain
• Test reports including any analysis of results
• Anomaly reports
• Monthly progress reports – including man-days spent (with dates), the location of the work and the apportionment of the effort spent on the WBS All deliveries will be accompanied by the corresponding electronic files.

YOUR PROFILE
The following mandatory experience is required
• Experience in integration and verification of complex software systems
• Excellent communication skills both written and spoken. Documentation is to be provided in English, so strong technical English writing skills are required
• Flexible – able to cope with a changing work schedule and load
• Ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary environment

The following desirable experience or skills would be of great benefit:
• Experience in integration of ground systems for earth observation satellite missions
• Experience in using SCOS-2000 and related products
