Project Planning Consultancy - 2 Positions

CLC Space is currently recruiting a Project Planning Consultant to provide consultancy support at their client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. There are two positions available.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Consultancy is sought in the field of project planning and coordination to support LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite programme development activities. The consultant will be assigned within the Low Earth Orbit Division (LEO) at EUMETSAT and be involved in programme activities on the EPS Second Generation development (Ground Segment) or on Sentinel 6 Jason-CS development (System and Ground Segment), as required.

Project Planning Consultancy will be provided to the EPS-SG Ground Segment Team (or the Jason CS Project Team, as requested) for planning and scheduling aspects.

The tasks will be carried out mainly at our client’s facilities in Darmstadt, but travel within Europe may be undertaken.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your tasks will typically include (but not necessarily be limited to) the following:
• Maintain a detailed development logic and schedule of the EPS-SG Ground Segment (or Jason-CS System and Ground Segment, as requested):
o including all the subsystems and services, consistently with overall programme constraints, and in coordination with the relevant EUMETSAT teams, contractors and partners;
o Ensuring that the corresponding development logic and schedule remains at all times consistent with programme constraints;
o Performing a critical path analysis of each version of the schedule;
• Follow-up subsystems developments and participate in necessary meetings and reviews;
• Track progress against agreed development plans and Interaction Documents and signal any likely or identified deviations from these plans, together with the elaboration of proposals to reduce the impact of any delays;
• Provide inputs to the EPS-SG Ground Segment (or Jason-CS System and Ground Segment, as requested) Plans concerning the development logic, schedule and interactions;
• Provide regular summary reports on development progress against the development schedule and the status of interactions;
• Identify interactions between subsystems and partners/contractors and associate them with main development milestones and work breakdown structure. Prepare and maintain Interactions Documents, defining interactions between subsystems, together with their need dates. Interactions will cover such areas as
o Deliverables: hardware, software, databases, documentation, algorithms, test data sets, tools, configuration statuses
o Support: mutual review support, joint test and operational rehearsals preparation and execution, test data analyses
o Access to: services, sites, facilities, infrastructure and interfaces.
• Manage the configuration of EPS-SG Ground Segment (or Jason-CS System and Ground Segment) Schedule and Interactions Documents versions, as requested;
• On request, provide consultancy on planning activities within LEO on other activities such as EPS-SG System ones.

YOUR PROFILE
You shall be able to analyse complex situations and development schedules, identify critical areas and produce accurate and concise analyses, recommendations and synthesis.
You shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks autonomously, be able to plan your work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks and work in a rigorous way to agreed deadlines. You shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies.

You shall have the following experience, background and skills:
• University degree;
• At least 3 years’ experience performing project planning activities preferably on large and complex development projects in the aerospace (or similar) domain;
• Demonstrated ability to define system development logic, lifecycle and schedules and successfully implement them;
• Demonstrated ability to understand the technical aspects of system components and their development constraints;
• Proficiency with MS-Project. The following would be additional assets:
• Certification in project management or in project management disciplines;
• Knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures and processes;
• Experience of Earth Observation systems and/or Ground Segment development.

You shall be used to working in a rigorous manner with formal configuration management of schedule versions. You shall also demonstrate good communication skills (verbal and written) and be a team player.

The official languages of are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be fluent and able to work effectively in English, knowledge of French being an advantage.
